Is Charles Barkley trying to make pals in New York after repeatedly ripping the Knicks? The NBA Hall of Famer and TNT analyst took in the "Sounds of Sinatra" show at the Carnegie Club lounge on West 56th Street the other night. A spy told us, "He enjoyed cocktails and vintage cigars and bought a round of drinks for the other patrons at the bar, costing $524." Perhaps he was trying to win fans after he said on Letterman's show, "I watched the Knicks play, and in the history of all basketball, they may be the worst defensive team ever. They play zero defense and they're not going to do well in the long run." But he may have had a point when he blasted the team's owners on WFAN for a plan to raise season-ticket prices by up to 50 percent as a "flat-out disgrace."
