Race Baiting or Blaming the Victim? White Females Say They Were Raped by Black Athletes

On the Today Show, two students from Indiana University and Wake Forest came forth to claim that they were raped by two athletes after a long night of drinking.  As a college professor, I can testify to the high number of sexual assaults that occur as a result of excessive alcohol consumption on college campuses, which is one of the reasons why I regularly campaign against it.  As they mention on the Today Show, one-in-five women on campus is sexually assaulted, and I consistently tell my girls to be mindful of this issue when they make personal choices.  Personally, I never drank in college (or after), for I had no interest in continuing the legacy of alcoholism that runs in my genes.  There’s nothing nerdy about being sober.

Consuming alcohol doesn’t give anyone an excuse to commit the act of rape.   At the same time, it’s hard for the rest of us to distinguish between consensual sex with a woman who likes to hang out with athletes (i.e. groupies) and inexcusable behavior on the part of men who presume too much.  Additionally, the video conjures up disturbing imagery of the white female damsel in distress being attacked by the big, brutish black man.  Perhaps the Today Show could have shown more balance by presenting a black female victim or a white perpetrator, instead of presenting the story as if it were a product of the Willie Horton School of Media Management.  As the experience of President Obama shows us, millions of white Americans still fear black men, and there is a reason that the OJ trial meant so much to America.

Dominique Straus-Kahn, managing director of the International Monetary Fund and potential President of France, arrested for attempted rape, criminal sexual act and unlawful imprisonment.

The NYT reports:

[Deputy Commissioner Paul J. Browne, the department’s chief spokesman] said that it was about 1 p.m. on Saturday when the maid, a 32-year-old woman, entered Mr. Strauss-Kahn’s suite — Room 2806 — believing it was unoccupied. Mr. Browne said that the suite, which cost $3,000 a night, had a foyer, a conference room, a living room and a bedroom, and that Mr. Strauss-Khan had checked in on Friday.

As she was in the foyer, “he came out of the bathroom, fully naked, and attempted to sexually assault her,” Mr. Browne said, adding, “He grabs her, according to her account, and pulls her into the bedroom and onto the bed.” He locked the door to the suite, Mr. Browne said.

“She fights him off, and he then drags her down the hallway to the bathroom, where he sexually assaults her a second time,” Mr. Browne added.

Let's assume that the maid's story is true. When things like this happen, I suspect that this is a man who has had sexual encounters like this before, many times. He's gotten more cursory and abrupt over time, because he's been successful in the past. Here is an illustrious man, staying in an extremely expensive hotel room — a room with many amenities.  Seems you can get whatever you want. A woman appears. Is she beautiful? He imagines that the woman is another thing the hotel subtly offers to men who pay $3,000 a night for the hotel.

AllHotNewz just got MORE details into Rihanna's new boyfriend, Matt Kemp's past. According to insiders in the know, Matt was among a group of boys in Oklahoma who were accused of GANG RAPING a teenage girl.Here's what popped off. Matt and a group of his High School basketball teammates at Midwest City High School in Oklahoma were staying at a hotel after a game and came upon a 19 year old woman.

It's not entirely clear what happened next, but the following morning the girl filed a report with police alleging Matthew Kemp (who was 17 at the time), and two of his teammates forced her into sexual conduct.

But here's the kicker, Police looked into the incident and decided not to bring Matt, or any of his teammates up on charges.

We don't know what to think. It seems like there are too many women coming out and accusing this dude of stuff . . .
