SPARK

As promised, here are some yummy pages from our new magazine Spark!

VENUS IN FURS
It took just nine months for this magazine, along with its digital platform to be birthed. Creating SPARK and its online component www.sparkazine.com literally felt like going through a pregnancy--with all the excitement, drama stress, and exhaustion involved. One thing was sure though, it was an unfolding process of passion and inspiration that kept everyone on the team motivated--incubating the magazine's spirit with total respect for upholding the editorial integrity that drove us all to deliver the best product we could mentally, physically and emotionally muster. It is, to use the cliche, the balance of art and commerce.

The readers are the absolute audience and through total respect for this, art becomes a function of commerce and never, ever the reverse. Working purely on inspiration, every person who collaborated with us melded with our belief to uphold our vision. The most difficult process was tempering creativity for the sake of commerce. Although in the end, it is due to the act of maintaining this delicate balance that heightened a sensibility was achieved. This ultimately translates to being able to reach out and connect to a broader audience while maintaining our voice and authenticity.

It was through a creative quandary that this insight was brought to light, thanks to an interview on Carine Roitfeld by ACNE Paper called Venus in Furs. And through a series of serendipitous events and happy coincidences, SPARK was born. This magazine is an act of celebrating inspiration and creativity. Every individual is involved in creative pursuit--whether it's putting a look together or cooking a dish to get on the road to health and wellness. This endeavor is a result of passion and inspired action. Welcome to our world!
