Having some fun....

Hey Everyone....Hope you had a wonderful Monday!!!! Tonight I was able to work on a few things I needed to do.....the first was a Get Well card that needed to be masculine......I know it looks like a basic 6x6 square card...but it actually isn't.......It's a bit different of a folding card as you can see below.......I really like the way it turned out......

Isn't that cool........simple but kinda cool!!! Below here is the link to download the svg if you like it.......

Download: HERE

Then I had a request for a header/background layout for a blog......This is what I came up with....what do ya think???? I like the softness of the colors!!! You're welcome to use this header/background if you like and if you need help installing it I do have tutorials how to install both the header and the background if you need any help.....

Finally Something....

Actually made for my Etsy Store.....It's been so long since I've given my ETSY store some tender loving care.....I've got nothing in there right now but promised myself that would be one of my goals this week while I'm on vacation...So here's my first piece.....It's a Journal.....

I'm SO excited on a technique I experimented with tonight.......the background paper you see here with the marbling on it....It's actually Wallpaper........I designed my wording and graphics (dark green leaves & vine) in my Corel PSP and then PRINTED IT ON TO THE WALLPAPER with my Laser Color Printer.......It looks WONDERFUL....has such a wonderful permanent finish to it......After I printed my graphics onto the wallpaper I then layed out a cut file I wanted to cut into the wallpaper for a design....This WONDERFUL border you see down the left edge of the cover is a cut file designed by Paulo Guarmarous it's called "Wildborder.svg" if anyone is interested in the file you can visit his blog by clicking on his name and download it from his amazing site....I WARN you however.....You will absolutely positively fall in love with his ART....He is SO VERY talented!!!!!

Once I cut the design I then carefully removed the cut out and then lined the back with a piece of wallpaper that I had ran through my xyron to put adhesive on it and adhered that sticky side through the cutout and then covered with some bronze color glitter.......It's a nice subtle effect I believe....

I then trimmed the border of the front cover with decorative border ribbon and a bit of lace....wrapped a ribbon around and tied off added rhinestones and the flower I had designed cut and decorated the other day...the file for the flower is in a post earlier this week...just scroll down the page a bit to find it if you care to download the .svg file for it.....

I lined the inside front and inside back with a green decorative wallpaper and the backcover with the same pattern as the front and trimmed the edge with a bit more of the decorative border trim.........

I'm very happy with the design of the layout and look forward to getting it into my store.......

Ok, that's it for me tonight.....I want to thank you for stopping by....I do hope you come again soon.......I hope you all have a very blessed Wednesday!!!!

Fun playing with paper....

Hey everyone...I hope you are enjoying your Sunday....I did get to start playing with paper!! Yippie for me!!! I needed to make a birthday card for an online friend's mother...she will be 90 in a couple of weeks......How cool is that!!! I am honored to get to send this person a birthday card to help celebrate such a special day!!!!

I'm really happy with how this turned out....I used one of my sweet sweet friends and AMAZING ARTist, Paulo decorative border and I created the flower based from the digital image I used in the creation of this card!!! I printed the digital image out on watercolor paper and colored with watercolor pencils....sharpies, bics and Tim Holtz distress inks........I used my polka dot embossing sleeve with the cuttlebug on the image once I had colored it then layerd over a tan cardstock.....I cut the words Happy Birthday as well with my cricut.....the flowers I cut I cut onto watercolor paper then colored them also with my watercolor pencils....for the center of all the flowers I used Rangers Sepia Accents and then took some brown yard and cut into itty bitty pieces to use as "flocking" to give the center of the flowers the fuzzy feel..........I used 3 different ribbons on the card.....

I also created a matching envelope and inside lining of the card.....Purple is my favorie color so I LOVE the warmth of this card......

7/9/2009 - Added Note: (I had someone ask what type of watercolor paper I ran through my printer to print this image onto.....I used Strathmore 90lb Watercolor paper) Keep in mind I do have a Laser Color Printer CP1215 that allows me to use thick paper....another wonderful reason I love my laser printer so much......I hope that answered your question....

So if anyone is interested in the digital image, or the flowers I created please click the image or designated area below.........

Have more fun....

It feels so good to just play again....creating where my muse leads me and even getting swaps done before they even come close to being due!!! Yeah for me!!! LOL....So tonight I decided to work an an ATC Swap Vintage them for my group ARTHaven, Creations & Friendships and this is what I came up with.....

I found the background image in my graphics program and printed it onto Water Color Paper with my Laser printer......then I created the image on the top layer by tweeking some images I had and merging them together...printed off onto paper with my laser color printer then coated with my Omni Gel (one of my favorite new ART supplies!!) once dried I sumberged into water to soften the back and rubbed off carefully the back layer so only the image was left on the Omni Gel Layer...a WONDERFUL tutorial from Angie Hall Haviland here's her tutorial link... once that was dried I then attached my background layer to a thick cardboard base then put a layer of Omni Gel on the back of the image transfer and attached to the background layer....wrapped the edges around and then applied a bit more Omnigel on the back....allowed that to dry....I added some lace, ribbon, decorative pearls and a button with ribbon to finish it off.......I'm quite happy with the end result!!

Though I did not create any cut files to make this piece of ART I thought I would share with you the images in case anyone might be interested in them!!!! If you would like them please click either the image or the designated area....

Happy Father's Day....

Ok.....Since tomorrow is Father's Day I needed to make a card for my hubby's dad....he's an AMAZING dad and very very special!!!!! I could not have been blessed with a better person to be my Father In Law!!!! So I knew I wanted to use a different type of card...so I designed the template myself in Inkscape!!!! It's a bi-fold card with a scallop incorporated.........

I cut the base of the card in a brown cardstock then designed a decorative paper for each side of the card and printed with my Laser Color Printer....I also created the Happy Father's Day scallops in PSP, printed and then cut with my Cricut.......after cut I then kissed the edges with a sponge some Tim Holtz Distress Inks....I used foam dots to raise up off the card.....

The inside layer of the card I created the design for the message portion of the card.....printed the poem that I found off the internet onto some watercolor paper with a faint background of the same image I used on the scallops then cut it out with my Cricut....then kissed the edges again with the Tim Holtz Distress Inks.....I added some green sheer ribbon and a touch of red ribbon to the front of the card.......I then created the envelope template to go with the card and printed some decorative paper again with my color laser printer and cut with the Cricut.......

I really LOVE how the card turned out...not too fru fru.........I think he will really like it....SO....I created ALL my svg files in one file.....on different layers.....as you go to cut them you will want to close the "eye" on the layer you are NOT wanting to cut at the time.......select path and then save the file....when it asks if you want to replace select yes...then go into SCAL and import....your properties will be X=0.0 / Y=0.0 / W=12.0 / H=12.0 (Keep proportions=check this box)........

Download: HERE

If you would like this file either click the image or the designated area and ENJOY!!! I REALLY had alot of fun creating this and I hope some of you will enjoy it!!!! Ok, now off to create my next piece of ART.....Please come back and visit me again...I hope you are all having a very blessed Saturday.....until next time......

NOTE: When you download this file ALL THE CUTS ARE THERE!!! They "EYE" has just been closed on the LAYERS.....You MUST OPEN YOUR LAYERS PALLET by doing LAYER > LAYERS a window will open on the right of your screen...at the top portion of the window you'll see the LAYERS.....the one with the envelope will have the EYE OPEN AND THE LOCK UNLOCKED.......to view the other cuts you will need to CLICK THE EYE to open and the LOCK to unlock........You will do this for each you want to cut.......then select all the do PATH > OBJECT TO PATH and then save the file again...it will ask if you want to REPLACE...select YES!!! Now go Import in to SCAL set your properties like I've shared above and cut!!!!

Wahoooooooooooo....It's been a FUN day....

I have had THE best day with paper!!!! It started early about 6:30 a.m. as my kitty decided it was time for me to get up....arggghhhhhhhh...LOL.....so I get up fix me some coffee and off to my ART Haven as hubby was at work.......I was thrilled to know everything I created today was for swaps which due dates had not yet arrived!!! :)

So, this first ATC is for a swap in my group ARTHaven Creations & Friendships there is no theme for this swap....just whatever your passion drives you towards......I got to use my new color laser printer and printed this graphic in black and white and then colored with watercolor pencils....It was SO fun doing this because now my ink from the printer doesn't run!!! Yippie!!!! I cut an extra butterfly out and after coloring with watercolor pencils I then hit with some of my PearlEx misters.....has a slight shimmer to the butterfly..... kissed the edges of the image layer with Tim Holtz's Distress Ink Lipstick.......I also made the fuzzy centers of the flowers with chopped up yarn into itty bittsy pieces...works like flocking and no cost!!! I threaded some ribbon through the bottom left area and then added a piece of lace at the top left and three gold dots.......I layered that onto a lime green layer and lined that onto some more of the watercolor paper....I also printed the image onto watercolor paper....I am loving this paper and will be getting more to have on hand....

This next ATC is for a group I belong to on Yahoo Crafty Card Creators.....the theme for this was open as well.....I decided I would pick some papers first then design an ATC around that....so first I selected the mustard color paint sample which is the very back layer...just cut it down to 2 1/2 x 3 1/2......I then founds some orgami paper I liked the colors of and selected some of my crayon paper I had made last year some time.....I roughed the edges of the crayon paper a bit with a distressing tool I have from Stampin Up........and wipped the edges with some mustard colored chalk ink......I took some scrap of the paint sample and punched with my hole punch 3 little dots....I adhered some purple rhinestones to them and then used a raised foam dot to adhere to the ATC....I took more of the paint sample piece and stamped with some Stazon purple in the word "passion" and then tore the edges and wiped with some distress ink in a couple of colors.....Then I used some of the grunge elements I have of Tim Holtz...the fourish I covered with distress ink and then distress embossing powder and embossed...used my little Xyron to adhere adhesive to the back and mounted on the ATC..........A simple affect but I do like the way it turned out....

This next card is for a "White Challenge" That Jennie is having on her blog.....Bloomin' Paper You can use some color but 75% of the card has to be white......I used a cut file that Paulo Guimaraes shared with me......BEAUTIFUL cut file....I'm not quite sure I'm totally happy with the way this card turned out...I indeed LOVE the cut file he created....but not happy that my paper puckered a bit.......but I have turned my version in for the "White Challenge"......

Ok....Now this last card I did today.....It is by FAR my most favorite card!!! I'm tickled with the way the entire card turned out......on the yellow layer with the swirley's and butterflies I created this design with the use of a square in Inkscape and the cut file from Deb Carfield....she creates some AMAZING cut files...her email addy is dcarfield@bwtelcom.net so you can send her an email and she if she is willing to share her files....I unioned them with the square to give a bit of a different look then she created....then next the top layer is some vellum that I ran through my sizzix with the dot embossing sleeve and the hit the edges with some Distress Ink in purple and wiped lightly over the entire card......The flowers are a cut file I received entitled Gerber Daisy's.....due to the fact I did not create the Gerber Daisy's and butterflies and swirls I can not share these files....I apologize....BUT....I can share with you the link of the person's blog I got it from....http://www.paperscissorsinc.com/2009/02/gerbera-daisys.html I printed the flower layers off in Watercolor paper then I colored them with my Tim Holtz Distress Inks.....then spritzed with some pearl ex spritzers to give the layers a shimmer....on the yellow layers I used a swirly rubberstamp to give a pattern on that layer.....I used a tool and curled the edges on all the layers to give the flower some dimension....I used foam dots in between each layer of the flowers to give it dimension.....on the very top I placed a bit of stickles then used some of my purple rhinestones in the center.......

Then I used my laser printer and printed of the butterflies.....I did them in mirror image as well...glued together so you see the front and the back as the same......and then cut them out with scissors...I printed them out onto vellum......I used wire and made each of the butterflies atennas used some glue on the bodies and used some glitter...adhered the butterfiles to the card with foam dots....Oh yeah, I also used some silk leaves under the flowers.....I liked the card front on to the yellow card base and love love love how it turned out........

I decided since this card had so much depth to it I wanted to make a box for it.....but I wanted you to still be able to see the card front...so I decided...."hey why not cut the center out of the box"....so that's just what I did and used acetate on the inside to make a "window" for the box front....I also used my laser color printer to print a design onto the cardstock before I cut the box top with my cricut.....the bottom base I did not decorate I left it just solid yellow......

I CAN share this box template I created with you and hope some of you can find a use for it......I am thrilled with how the box turned out...and it absolutely sets the card off!!!!! You know the routine on downloading the file....I do not want to take any kudos away from anyone who created the other files I used in conjunction with the creation of the files and cards so I am not sharing those files with you.....I'm sorry and do hope you understand.......

Another one complete...

Yahoo....It feels SO good to be productive with paper!!!! I had a swap I needed to get completed for a yahoo group I belong to...ArtyKards.....the theme is Black/Red.......I wanted to do something special so I decided to use this AMAZING copy of a drawing my oldest son...Billy Duncan drew back in 2008.....He is so wonderful at drawing and this is just a small sample of his talent......Yes it is a tattoo drawing for something he had a request for....but I think it is beautiful!!! I've used this drawing before but I just couldn't resist for this swap.......because he had created it in red/black....

I printed his drawing onto watercolor paper........and then cut a couple extra layers of the Chinese writing as well as an extra of one of the flowers to make them pop up off the card......I kissed the edges of the image layer with black and red Tim Holtz distress ink...as well as the card base......I also added the silver brads to the card......I REALLY like this card...very different from what I usually create but perfect for this swap I think.....

I wanted to create an envelope to cooridinate with this card so I created one using his image.......because the card was an odd shape I had to do a bit of modification once I printed off the template I created by adding a bit more paper to one end of the envelope....If I would have had a 12x24 mat for the cricut I would have been fine but I haven't gotten any of those yet....so I made due......where I had to splice the paper together I ran a strip of ribbon across the seam to make it look like it was intentional.....turned out well I think........

Ok.....I'm attaching the files if anyone is interested.......If you are you know the drill on downloading.......

BUT...as ALWAYS I want to THANK YOU for coming by to visit with me........I TRULY appreciate it!!! I pray you all have a VERY blessed Tuesday!!!!

Ok....Another one complete....

It feels SO good to be creative again!!!! Four cards in three days!! Yahoooooo, I'm on a roll and loving it!!!! This completes my last "behind" cards I had to complete......I do have one that is just now due I will be working on next.....but these cards as well as the past three I'm ashamed to admit I've owned since May 5th......So anyway...Here's my creation for the "Sketch Swap" I was signed up for in one of the groups I belong to......I certainly hope the recipient likes it.....

I created the background paper....I printed the image off in black and white onto watercolor paper and colored with my watercolor pencils.....really like how it turned out.....Then I created the friendship phrase in Inkscape and cutout then used some Tim Holtz Distress Embossing powder in Vintage Photo......Love the rusty look it gives to the word......and to think it's actually cardstock!! :)

Ok, then the frame I printed off, then created a cut file in Inkscape and cut the frame then sprayed with hairspray so the colors would not bleed when I covered with versamark ink then embossed with clear embossing powder........lined the back with acetate and used raised foam on the back to make it seem as if the watercolor image I did was really framed........Then I used some pretty ribbon and wrapped and tied in a bow and added the charms....

I then printed off the background paper on to 12x12 paper and created an envelope template to work with this card........and cut it out.....folded and then whola!!! All done!!!!! Oh yeah...I also kissed the edges of the background layer with Tim Holtz distress inks......

As always I'm attaching all the files I created to create this card if anyone is interested in them, please feel free to help yourself!!! I hope you find something that may work for you!!!!!
