Before I share my creation with you, I will say I am VERY proud of the way this turned out!!!!!! I will show you first an image of what I started with....so you can get the idea of how much work I've done to bring it to completed stage.......
Not only did I do the Altered Box I also created from scratch the ART Journal......I used my Bind-it-All for the first time and must say I LOVE this tool!!! I had a book binding system previously by GBC Comb Bind C55 and it was ok...but the Bind-it-All....is 1000% better.......Ok...guess I've stalled enough......
To start with I removed the inside inserts from the box....then I removed the stickers from the outside.....I then covered the inside and outside of the box with white Gesso.....2 coats...allowed to dry thoroughly.......Then I used some of my Pittsburgh Paints sample containers I had bought from the Hardware store a couple months back....used the remainder of one of the containers putting 2 coats on the box...it was the burgandy color I had......once that dried throughly I used my Tim Holtz Distress Crackle Paint in Vintage Photo...however once I touched up the 2nd time it looked too splotchy so I then decided to put another layer of crackle paint.....this time I decided on the Tim Holtz Distress Crackle Pain in Peeled Paint....I REALLY like how this turned out!!!! On the hinges and closure I painted them black then went over with some Pewer Paint to give it a rustic look.......
For the feet I used some wooden balls I had snagged a bag of at the Good Will one day.....PERFECT to use as feet on items!!!! I then glued a band of a wide lace....then some beaded fringe and topped with some twisted off white and gold trim.......I like the look it gives.....Ooooppps forgot...BEFORE I glued all the lace and trim on I took my Tim Holtz Distress Walnut Stain Ink pad and burnished the edges of the top to give a withered look....as well as took my Stazon Brown Inkpad and stamped....using my Rock-A-Blocks some flourishes on the top portion of the box........then I put on the lace and fringe and trim......On the top of the box I took some K&C Decorative paper and cut to the size I wanted....left a top portion of the box with the painted finished with the stamping on it.....I ran the decorative paper through my Cuttlebug using one of my decorative embossing sleeves...then hit the high spots with my Tim Holtz Distress Walnut Stain Inkpad......(I also did this same technique to the ARTJournal)....I also used some of my homemade Skittles!!!!
I then glued that to the top of the box...and then used some of my homemade sticky dots and adhered a strip of fringe fiber along the edge of the paper.......For the Fairy Graphic I found an image on the internet I liked...printed it out the size I wanted with my Color Laser Printer...(printing it 2xs) one copy I cut the wings out......one copy I cut the fairy out ....that way I'm able to give the fairy more of a dimensional look......I then coated the wings, the head and dress with glossy accents by Ranger and then covered with Crystal Fine MS Glitter.....LOVE the bling it gives........I then used some Rhinestones on the fairy........I adhered the wings and fairy at different levels to give it the look as if the wings are fluttering....(I did these same steps for the fairy on the journal as well.......)
I then took some of my favorite decorative wired ribbon and created a pretty bow and glued to the top .......(I also did the same on the ART Journal)...........
So....that's pretty much all my steps....there were alot but I am SO THRILLED with the way it has turned out and cannot wait to see Brianna's face when she receives it!!!!
Ok.....Now I'm off to read lots of emails to get caught back up then I plan on playing with paper!!!!! I, as always, want to THANK YOU for stopping by to visit with me!!!! I do hope you will come but again and I pray you all have a very blessed evening and Sunday!! Until next time.....
